FER-PAL is a North American leader in watermain rehabilitation, with more than 30 years of expertise in delivering innovative, sustainable solutions. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a Certified Payroll Specialist to join our Illinois team.

This role is ideal for a payroll professional who thrives on accuracy, compliance, and collaboration. You’ll play a key part in ensuring timely, compliant payroll processes while supporting HR and administrative functions that keep our people at the center of everything we do.

What You’ll Do

Payroll & Compliance

  • Process accurate weekly payroll for U.S. employees.

  • Track time and calculate wages for Prevailing Wage employees.

  • Prepare and submit Certified Payroll Reports (LCPTracker, eComply).

  • Ensure compliance with payroll laws and maintain organized records.

  • Support audits, manage 401K/vacation pay tracking, and collaborate closely with HR & Finance.

HR & Administrative Support

  • Ensure wages and benefits align with Prevailing Wage and contract requirements.

  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes.

  • Help track diversity initiatives and maintain Apprenticeship Program compliance.

Job requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field.

  • 3+ years of payroll processing experience (construction or public sector preferred).

  • Strong knowledge of Certified Payroll and Prevailing Wage regulations.

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation required.

  • Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills required.
